American public schools are under threat. Hobbled by restrictive mandates for COVID, then turned into ideological battlegrounds for social issues, they are failing our children as seen in falling test scores and soaring mental health issues. Mead schools are no exception, with the state testing results showing more than a 10% decline in the number of students meeting grade level standards over the last 2 years.

As a parent of three children in the Mead School District, I have seen the impact first hand. It is time to stand up to governmental overreach and return the focus to exceptional education. As School Board Director for District 2, I will fight for:

​Excellence in Education

Teach the basics, teach them well. Merit must be the basis for evaluating performance.

​No Culture Wars on Campus

Culture war issues are poisoning the academic environment. Crusades for or against them are not acceptable in our schools.

Strengthen Non-Traditional Education

Grow opportunities for learning outside of the traditional classroom through the return of vocational programs and expanded support for home school students.

​My opponent has been on the school board for 25 years and has lost touch with Mead families. He skips meetings with families in his district to discuss school boundary changes, he votes against hearing public testimony during school board meetings, and he rubber stamps harmful policies from the state. 

 

Mead School District’s students and parents need a leader who will listen to them and stand up against overreach by the state and federal government. Let’s reclaim the school board for Mead families this November by voting Alan Nolan for Mead School Board, District 2.
